I’m in a candy-colored swirl getting ready for Tucson. If you haven’t read my post about the insane Tucson Gem Shows and the strange vortex you enter, this post captures it pretty well. I have a term I’ve coined for the Tucson experience: CISO, Color Induced Sensory Overload.
This time, I’m even more excited to go. In addition to the totally cray tents (ammonite table anyone?), and gems to drool over at the AGTA Gemfair and GJX, JCK Tucson has revamped and expanded their Design Center at the Marriott Starr Pass to include more jewelry designers. I’m thrilled to see old friends and meet new faces.
Jewelry Designers at JCK
There are a lot of Contemporary Jewelry Design Group friends who will be at JCK Tucson this year: Alishan, Todd Reed, Aaron Henry, Alexis Barbeau, Belle Brooke, Dana Bronfman, and Rebecca Myers. I’ll see CJDG members Barbara Heinrich, Paula Crevoshay and Denny Wong at AGTA.
I’m super excited to see newer discoveries at JCK Tucson like Geoffrey Scott, Susan Wheeler, and Martha Seely! And I finally get to meet Diana Atieno of Porini Gems.
Sharing the Rough at JCK Tucson
If you’re in Tucson this week, I hope you can join me Friday night for a special showing of the Sharing the Rough documentary under the stars. It promises to be a fantastic event hosted by JCK starting at 5:30pm, complete with nibbles and drinks. I’m on a panel with Director Orin Mazzoni and Mark Schneider afterwards, answering questions posed by JCK publisher Mark Smelzer! Come have a toast of tequila and celebrate with me! There is no charge for the event, but you do need to register here: http://tucson.jckonline.com/Forms/Sharing-the-Rough-Movie-Premiere.
WJA Panel on Gemstones and Digital Media at AGTA
On Saturday, February 6th at 1pm, I’m moderating a panel for the Women’s Jewelry Association about reaching colored gemstone consumers through digital media. We’ve assembled an all-star panel of social media and gemstone superstars to tell their story about how they are reaching their customers through digital media: Geoffrey Cooper of Geoffrey Scott Jewelry, Sia Maravelias of Quadrum Gallery and Jean-Noel Soni of Top Notch Faceting. It promises to be an enlightening conversation!
Can’t wait to experience the color overload that is Tucson! The tequila’s on me!
